Guy Savoy

It's my Birthday week...yes I said week...and because of it, I am treating myself to a wonderful week in Paris! So to start off, Monday was my last day of work. And Tuesday I went to Guy Savoy! My roommate knows the Chef de Partie there so she got me a HUGE deal. For those of you who don't know Guy Savoy he is a famous Chef in Paris and his restaurant is 3 Michelin starred which is a HUGE deal! So being able to eat there was a TREAT! I was also able to get a picture with him! He has 4 other restaurants around Paris and now one in Las Vegas! (if you are in the states I recommend it!) Anyway, I took pictures of my meal. I also took notes. Feel free to contact me if you want to hear them :) (i was picky as usual)

It was a GREAT first meal for my birthday week! I have to give a shout out to Ms Glaze for making this all happen for me! Hopefully I'll get to meet her shortly! Thanx! Stay tuned...other exciting things are going to happen :)

LAST DAY!

Today was my last day of work! I worked in the morning and the crew was a bit different than I normally work with. But nonetheless, it was fun! Here are a couple of pictures of a rocher that I got to pack in little P.A. bags! Then I smuggled one home for Asima :)

Other than that I glazed all the cakes and got to make a fruit coulis at work! It was a pretty boring day...but it went quickly! And the big clean today was short...and then I got to leave early! 6 pm :) However, right before I finished work, I spoke to Chef Michalak and I told him I loved him. No joke. I asked if i could speak to him in English and he said yes. So i told him I was in love with him and I thanked him a bunch for letting me work there. He thanked me for being so dedicated. He said it's most important to have people who put their heart into their work, so remember that when I open my own place! He also said he'd be in Chicago often so I should stay in touch ;) ;) I feel better now that I told him...even though I don't think he understood! Anyway, i came home and my wonderful roomie had dinner ready! Then I packed and cleaned/organized my room! I feel so much better about sleeping in my room now! I'm going to post often because my internet shuts down next week so I have a lot to get in before that happens! Keep checking! toodles.

Winding up!

I am almost to the finish line at my job...so I wanted to just show some pictures of some chocolates from Plaza Athenee! Since my camera was lost...I had to take these from Asima's blog (thank you). However...I got to powder these with gold powder! And then I brought one home for her :)

Then this was a gift given to me by my favorite person Philip, for my birthday! It's an astrological sign chocolate bar! How cool!

Then on Saturday night I got to do more plating! First, the new vacherrin came out!

The base is a rhubarb compote, then sliced raspberries, then a quenelle of raspberry/rhubarb sorbet, raspberry meringue and almond foam on top! (of course with big red sugar lips!)

This is a picture of the Mi-Cuit (like our version of the molten lava cake--that one is for you mom!!).

(btw- I don't know why blogger is being so funky...i'll work on that! sorry) Other than that, getting ready for vacations and what not! I'll post more this week because it's a BIG week (if you don't know why...you should!) Joyeuses Pacques/Happy Easter!

The man I love...

Work! Today was the beginning of my last week. And I worked the morning shift! I HATE the morning shift. I like my evening hrs. I worked from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm! BOGUS! I had one 30 min break. ARGH! Anyway...I was busy...but I took a few pictures of not necessarily things I made. here are a few to browse.

These are the new tarts at work that I got to make today. One is a pear in strawberry juice with chestnut cream. The other is a pineapple chutney with mango in a szechwan pepper sauce.

Then the other thing I did at work for HOURS was finish the decoration of eggs! I got to put on the belt and the little chocolate circle that says joyeus pacques! Here are some pictures! I did 160 of them.

And now onto the title of my blog! I got a REAL surprise when I walked in today and I saw the man I love...Chef Michalak...standing there in a suit and then leaving but later returning to work! I was told last week I would never see him again! And there he was! It made my day! SO...i had a camera and I knew today was my day! So i approached him...in French...and asked to take his picture! So here it is folks. I apologize for my rosy cheeks...but i was NERVOUS! and with that i say...au revoir :)

Asima's Graduation

Hi all! I've had a few days off. They have been nice. For St. Pat's day I didn't do much except pack and drink a Guinness in my room alone :) Half fun...half not.

I also bought a camera on my day off. Yes...if you read my blogs and pay attention, you should know this is my 4th camera in Paris! AHHHH! Oh well. It's cheaper to buy a cheap digital than a very cheap disposable with pictures you have to develop! I also hung out with Raj, Asima's Husband, a bit while waiting for Asima to finish her final exam! We had fun :) Other than that, I did some grocery shopping and relaxed. The highlight of my days off was Asima's graduation! I cooked the two of them dinner for the occasion. It was a great day! I am so proud of her! Below are some pictures. Enjoy.

lost camera

Yes. It's true. I lost my camera. In a cab I think. In any case...no pictures for a little. My apologies for all that ONLY look at my pictures and don't read my blog ;) Anyway...overall things are pretty good. Asima's husband is in town. I'm so happy for her. Last nite I got to take some pastries home from work for them! It was a party for them :) This was just a short blog to mention my camera. I'll post more after my weekend! Hope everyone else is just as good as i am! toodles
