La Defense!

Sorry it's been so long! Like I said...I have no internet and no phone. So currently I am at McDonalds! Anyway...Last week on April 3rd, I went to an area called La Defense! It's half a touristy area and half a VERY VERY new business district with huge buildings that doesn't really fit into Paris at all :) I went for two reasons 1) cause i have never been there before and I wanted to finish out my time in paris as a tourist and 2) they have the largest mall in continental Europe! So needless to say I conquered both things. I went up the grande arche and took some pictures and walked around to look at the art work, and i shopped. They even have a toys r us there?!?! Why haven't i gone there earlier? Anyway, it was a great day! Enjoy the pictures.

Europain

Today I went to the Concours (competition)/pastry show with Asima and Tyler. It was at Parc de Exposition which is just outside of Paris. We left at 8:30 and arrived around 9:30. We then proceeded to spend all day there til 6ish. They pretty much ate all the baguettes and gelato in sight...when i stuck to coffee and diet coke ;) In anycase...the fun things that we did (besides get really great info for opening up our own pastry shops) was meeting Pierre Herme (the g-d of macarons in Paris) and watched the Competition with 11 countries competing. The France team actually were my friends. I worked with them at Plaza Athenee. Jerome and Alice are two young very talented Pastry Chefs. I think they are 22 and 21 (in that order) YOUNG! But i have a major crush on Jerome...hopefully you can see in pictures why (however...i didn't take many!) In any case...out of the 11 teams....FRANCE CAME IN FIRST! You will def see pictures why. They are AMAZING!! I was so proud of them...i had tears in my eyes! All of my Plaza friends were there and some from Gerard Mulot. It was nice to see them all. Overall it was a great day...but a LONG one! ENJOY THE PICTURES!

(on a side note-an IMPORTANT ONE-my internet gets shut off tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! and my cell phone gets shut off on april 8th!!!!) I apologize for the inconvenience! like all u peeps actually contact me! hahahaha! I'll blog when i can :)

Alain Ducasse's Jules Verne

To finish out my birthday week, I went to eat at Alain Ducasse's Jules Verne which is his restaurant at the Eiffel Tower. For those of you who don't know, Alain Ducasse is another 3 star chef with restaurants all over the world including NY and Tokyo and the one I just worked at Plaza Athenee. This was a TREAT! The meal was exceptional :) You can view for yourself in the pictures. As usual, I took notes, so feel free to contact me for further information! I would send anyone here in a heart beat! It was worth the money :)

Guy Savoy

It's my Birthday week...yes I said week...and because of it, I am treating myself to a wonderful week in Paris! So to start off, Monday was my last day of work. And Tuesday I went to Guy Savoy! My roommate knows the Chef de Partie there so she got me a HUGE deal. For those of you who don't know Guy Savoy he is a famous Chef in Paris and his restaurant is 3 Michelin starred which is a HUGE deal! So being able to eat there was a TREAT! I was also able to get a picture with him! He has 4 other restaurants around Paris and now one in Las Vegas! (if you are in the states I recommend it!) Anyway, I took pictures of my meal. I also took notes. Feel free to contact me if you want to hear them :) (i was picky as usual)

It was a GREAT first meal for my birthday week! I have to give a shout out to Ms Glaze for making this all happen for me! Hopefully I'll get to meet her shortly! Thanx! Stay tuned...other exciting things are going to happen :)

LAST DAY!

Today was my last day of work! I worked in the morning and the crew was a bit different than I normally work with. But nonetheless, it was fun! Here are a couple of pictures of a rocher that I got to pack in little P.A. bags! Then I smuggled one home for Asima :)

Other than that I glazed all the cakes and got to make a fruit coulis at work! It was a pretty boring day...but it went quickly! And the big clean today was short...and then I got to leave early! 6 pm :) However, right before I finished work, I spoke to Chef Michalak and I told him I loved him. No joke. I asked if i could speak to him in English and he said yes. So i told him I was in love with him and I thanked him a bunch for letting me work there. He thanked me for being so dedicated. He said it's most important to have people who put their heart into their work, so remember that when I open my own place! He also said he'd be in Chicago often so I should stay in touch ;) ;) I feel better now that I told him...even though I don't think he understood! Anyway, i came home and my wonderful roomie had dinner ready! Then I packed and cleaned/organized my room! I feel so much better about sleeping in my room now! I'm going to post often because my internet shuts down next week so I have a lot to get in before that happens! Keep checking! toodles.
